With so many different programs and opportunities, kids from grades 4th through 12th can find a place for themselves in SHJC’s Youth Group. There’s something for everyone, whether you just want to get together with friends, participate in mitzvah projects or engage in Jewish living. It’s not only about the events, it’s about the lifetime of memories that are created. These are the moments that help influence who our children become.
One of the amazing youth groups is our USY chapter! Our USY chapter is very active and loves doing new and fun activities each week! The teens run the programs and are on the chapter board helping the chapter each week. This year we have Emily Stern as our USY chapter president.
I’m Emily Stern and as president of the South Huntington’s USY chapter, SHUSY, I hope people join and experience the incredible opportunities that are part of SHUSY! Just a little about myself, I am a junior in Half Hollow Hills High School East and I’m loving being president! This is my second year on chapter board, last year I had the position of Social Action/ Tikun Olam, which was about mitzvahs and helping the community, and also about raising money for charities. This year I have a lot more responsibilities but I work with an amazing board and we come up with fun programs each week! Everyone Wednesday night is something new, from paint ball fights to glow in the dark tag, we always have a blast! I hope everyone joins and tries out our amazing chapter! SHUSY would love to have you!
My goal for SHUSY this year is to not only continue to have fun with amazing programs each week, but also get our chapter more involved in the community and in leadership roles. From our chapter overnights, interchapter events, and volunteering in the community, the USYers will have the opportunities to learn skills to help them for their lives.
