Worship

At the Melville Jewish Center, our services are approachable and open to everyone. We offer a variety of prayer services throughout the week, including daily minyanim, Shabbat services, and holiday services.

Our Siddur (prayer book), Sim Shalom, is in Hebrew, but all prayers are translated into English and many prayers are also transliterated (English spelling of Hebrew). In addition, the Siddur includes commentaries that provide further explanation, deeper background, and insights.

We strive to create a meaningful and spiritual experience for all who attend. Congregants are encouraged to take an active role by leading prayers (English or Hebrew parts are available), chanting Torah or participating in other ritual practices.  Our students join us for a variety of holidays and services throughout the year.  Our goal is to create a meaningful and spiritual experience for all who attend.

In addition to regular services, we offer many special services to mark holidays and life cycle events. We will happily celebrate life cycle events with you including baby namings, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, Aufrufs, weddings, blessings before travel to Israel and other simha’s.

Our clergy, educators, and lay leaders are happy to meet with anyone who feels they would benefit from a more individual approach. To set up a time to meet, please contact Rabbi Orrin by email or at (631) 421-3224 ext. 13.
